 THE QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE

Sunday the 5th of June saw a triumphant turnout for the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in the village.

Tables lined the Church House Inn car park and along Pump Lane leading down to the Church Hall which housed the many splendid cakes that were entered into the cake baking competition.

Bunting, kindly made by Jill Bremer, decorated the streets in red white and blue, transforming the area beautifully to welcome everyone to the celebrations.

The Old Gaffers started off the afternoon with the first round of sea-shanty songs whilst everyone gathered themselves together for food, drink and cake; some bringing their own picnics and many treating themselves to one of the freshly made stone-baked pizzas or hot dogs served by the Church House Inn. Pimms, Beer and Cider along with fruit juice was the offering of the day with the pub also serving a full drinks menu alongside for those who wanted it.

With the drinks flowing and bellies full, the celebrations went up a gear with the arrival of Adrian Byng and his pig racing. What a treat!!

The crowd were entertained  for over two hours by betting on their favourite piggies to compete in one of eight races with cash prizes to be won!

The adult-sized bouncy castle went down a treat with all the Children with the occasional adult  (mentioning no names, Louisa Pepperrell) enjoying a bounce!

Lots of fun, singing, dancing and laughter were had by all.  The sun shone, the residents came and the entertainment was a hit; we couldn't have asked for anything more.

A massive thank you to all who helped to make this event go ahead and be the huge success it was. A special thank you to the Church House Inn for organising the food & drink, hosting the Gin tasting evening to raise funds, and letting us all use it's facilities for the day.

Also, without the sponsorship and fundraising we wouldn't have been able to run the event so thank you to all of our sponsors.
